These tips will help you make great business cards, and leave your recipient with a lasting impression!
- Paper Stock Selection: Choosing a heavy paper stock gives the feeling of something substantial and of value. And if your business card is perceived to be valuable, than most likely your business must have value too.
- Ink Colors: Use them! Modern full color process allows us to use most any combination of bright colors, and PMS colors are a favorite among graphic designers for their subtle and unique combinations.
- Finishing Options: Full color printing is typically applied to a stock with a matte or gloss finish. The printing can beĀ enhanced with a UV coating which brings out the colors and enhances the details within the graphics. So for bright colors or graphics with lots of detail use UV coating. For subtle colors, or for a less glossy look use matte finish. If you are using fine papers, none of these finishing options makes sense. In these cases, you can enhance your business cards by finishing them with letterpress work like embossment, foil stamp or a combination of both.
- Use the Back Side: You have already paid for the business cards, so to add back printing costs just a little bit more. The back side of your business card provides an opportunity to send a message to your clients and prospects. This message could be marketing oriented, inspirational or graphically appealing. It’s common for people to look at the back side of your business card, so use this moment of attention to your advantage.
- Round Corners: Having round corners is another way to stand out from the crowd. They give your business card an enhanced look and feel, and portray value. Round corners also make for easier placement into a wallet, purse, pocket or other places people keep business cards.
